Position Summary


The https://arts-sciences.buffalo.edu/cds.html (CDS) at the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York (UB) invites applications for a full-time, 10-month, academic faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. We seek a scholar with expertise in pediatric speech production, including speech sound disorders, childhood dysarthria, and childhood apraxia of speech. The appointment will begin in Fall 2027.


The primary responsibilities of this position include (1) developing a program of extramurally funded research; (2) teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels; and (3) serving the Department, College, University, profession, and community.


The Department of Communicative Disorders and Sciences at the University at Buffalo is committed to excellence in research, teaching, and service and to fostering an inclusive academic environment. With support from the College of Arts and Sciences, the department is committed to building existing research, clinical, and academic capacities to continue to provide leadership in the fields of speech-language pathology, hearing science, and related disorders. The UB Audiology and Speech Pathology clinic is located next to the department, and collaborations between clinical and academic faculty are encouraged. The university provides strong support for research productivity including pre- and post-award administration, purchasing, and hiring.


The Western New York region is a large and diverse area, and the CDS department has strong connections with local schools, speech-language pathologists, and organizations serving children. Minimum Qualifications:


- Ph.D. in speech sciences, communication sciences and disorders, or a closely related field by the time of appointment.

- Research expertise in pediatric speech production.



Preferred Qualifications:


- Certification of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association or other clinical training

- Teaching experience at the college-level
