The Master of Science (M.S.) education program in speech-language pathology (residential) at Gannon University – Erie Campus is a Candidate for Accreditation by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, 2200 Research Boulevard, #310, Rockville, MD 20850, 800-498-2071 or 301-296-5700. Candidacy is a “pre-accreditation” status with the CAA, awarded to developing or emerging programs for a maximum period of 5 years.
The essential functions of a full-time faculty member at Gannon University are summarized below and are detailed in the faculty handbook, Volume IV of the Institutional Policy Manual.
1. Teach 24 credit hours in the academic year or as otherwise specified by the faculty member’s appointment notice; student course evaluations are to be completed in each course. Faculty are expected to employ sound pedagogical practices and to use technology as appropriate, including the University’s learning management system. Faculty shall assist with course revisions and curriculum development, as needed.
2. Achieve appropriate student-learning outcomes in all courses taught.
3. Engage in scholarly pursuits pertinent to their academic discipline. Scholarship, as defined by the Boyer model, includes The Scholarship of Discovery, The Scholarship of Integration, The Scholarship of Application, The Scholarship of Teaching, and The Scholarship of Engagement.
4. Participate in service to the University, the community, and to their profession. Attend convocations, commencement exercises, and community meetings.
5. Participate in ongoing professional development.
6. Assist, advise, and mentor students enrolled in the University.
7. Fulfill the essential duties and responsibilities of a faculty member as described in Volume IV of the Gannon University Institutional Policy Manual, which contains the approved policies and procedures of the University concerning the terms and conditions of faculty employment at the University.
Education/Experience: Research doctorate degree (e.g., Ph.D., Ed.D.) in Communication Sciences and Disorders, in Speech-Language Pathology, or related area. ABD candidates may apply, but completion of the doctorate is required by a mutually agreed upon date with the Dean.
Licenses and Certifications: ASHA CCC-SLP required; candidates must have or be eligible for Speech-Language Pathology licensure in Pennsylvania.
Rank: In accordance with the University’s standards, the Dean of the Morosky College of Health Professions and Sciences award initial rank at the time of employment.
