
Assistant Professor, Tenure Track, in Audiology at USU
The Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences (SHS) at Utah State University (USU) invites
applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position, with expertise in audiology or
hearing science.
The major emphasis area of the position will be research. The successful candidate will be expected to
establish an independent and extramurally funded program of research that both sustains and elevates
the department’s regional and national reputation. The successful candidate also will be expected to
teach effectively at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in audiology.
This is a full-time, 9-month academic year position at the main USU campus in Logan, UT. The position
is not eligible for telework. Review of applicants will begin October 15, 2025 and continue until the
position is filled. The anticipated start date is August 2026.
Position Responsibilities:
1. Lead an extramurally funded research program focused on audiology and/or hearing science,
which includes publishing research in top-tier scientific outlets
2. Teach undergraduate and graduate courses as assigned
3. Mentor graduate students, including chairing and serving on graduate student
committees
4. Provide service to the department and institution, as well as provide national, state,
and local service to the profession
Minimum Qualifications:
1. PhD (or equivalent degree) in audiology, hearing science, or related field. ABD candidates will
be considered(degree completion required by start date)
2. Evidence of potential to establish a robust program of research
3. Evidence of potential to obtain extramural funding for research program
4. A record of refereed journal publications that aligns with the assistant professor level
5. Demonstrated potential to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in alignment with
audiology and related fields
6. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Ability to teach graduate hearing aid courses
2. Success in obtaining extramural funding through grants or contracts
3. Evidence of effective teaching in higher education
4. Evidence of excellence in mentoring student researchers
