The Department of Speech-Language Pathology is housed within the College of Education, Health, and Human Services, which consists of 7 units (Education; Human Development; Kinesiology; Nursing; Public Health; Social Work) creating collaborative clinical and research opportunities that engage community, regional, and global partners. The college is dedicated to discovery, generation of new knowledge, diversity, and wellness.
Our department seeks a Tenure Track faculty member at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor who has expertise and qualifications in autism and bilingual and bicultural practice in speech-language pathology. The successful applicant may teach in the Master’s, Bachelor’s, and/or Preparation programs through face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online modalities. This individual will also be expected to mentor students, serve on culminating experience committees as chair and/or member; develop and maintain a research program; and serve on department, college and university‐level committees.
As part of an established department within the College of Education, Health and Human Services, the successful candidate will serve an important role in the ongoing success of the face-to-face master’s program, live and online bachelor’s program, and fully online SLP preparation program, in addition to participating in the development and advancement of the hybrid master’s program. All SLP programs are 12-month academic programs (Fall; Spring; Summer semesters), which may involve teaching and/or service commitments in the summer months. Although courses are offered in a variety of instructional modalities, faculty are expected to hold in-person office hours and be available to support students on campus in the classroom and clinic.
Our department offers hands-on and collaborative learning experiences, cutting edge technology, and academic programs relevant to the rapidly changing global environment. The faculty member will participate in developing and implementing experiential learning activities and simulations to enhance students’ clinical practice skills.
Minimum Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Speech-Language Pathology or related field (ABD applicants accepted; PhD Confirm required by hired date)
- California Speech-Language Pathology License (or eligibility to obtain)
- ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP)
- A minimum of three years of clinical experience in the candidate’s area of expertise
- Planned or active research program in autism and/or bilingual and bicultural practices in SLP
- Demonstrated evidence of teaching excellence in face to face, hybrid and/or online instruction at the university level for candidates with service credit or hired at the rank of Associate Professor
- Ability to teach courses in autism and bilingual and bicultural practice
- Interest in developing a bilingual certificate option for SLP students
- Interest in supervising master’s culminating experiences (e.g., theses, projects)
- Demonstrated ability and potential for professional growth and progressive leadership within the department; if hired as an Associate Professor the individual will be expected to immediately hold a leadership role(s) within the department
- If Associate, demonstrated experience with accreditation
- Ability to professionally communicate and collaborate with colleagues in the department, college, and across campus
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual English-Spanish speaker
- Evidence of research productivity
- Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds
- A research focus that can take advantage of our emerging technologies, interdisciplinary collaborations, and community partners
- Demonstrated intercultural competence with diverse groups in teaching, research and/or service

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $7,125- $8,646 per month
CSU Classification Salary Range: $6,221- $13,224 per month
