DESCRIPTION

The Director, while assuming both faculty and administrative roles, provides administrative leadership for the School of Audiology and reports directly to the Executive Dean & Vice Provost of the College of Health Professions of the University. The Director will join an established College of Health Professions which includes schools and/or programs in Dental Health Science, Healthcare Administration and Leadership, Occupational Therapy, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy and Athletic Training, Physician Associate Studies, and Graduate Psychology. (A master’s in Genetic Counseling and Biomedical Engineering have recently been approved.) The Director is responsible for leading the faculty in a collaborative endeavor related to all aspects of the academic program for the school, including but not limited to faculty recruitment and development, maintenance of academic standards, curriculum development, budgetary oversight, research and scholarship, external relations and maintenance of accreditation. The Director is also responsible for the Pacific EARClinic, the onsite audiology clinic on the Hillsboro Campus. This is a full-time administrative position on a twelve-month contract. The Program Director works closely with other University administrative officers as the needs of the school dictate.

The School of Audiology. Established in 2012, the 3-year accelerated Au.D. program has over 230 alumni with diverse practices across the United States and in several international countries. The curriculum is based on a modified-block design, which allows the sequential delivery of courses in compressed blocks of study rather than the traditional method of teaching multiple courses at the same time over the course of a semester. Our innovative teaching and simulation labs contain nine individual stations or “pods” which each contain all the equipment used in a clinical setting. Students are assigned to each pod and have 24/7 access for practicing clinical skills. The full-service Pacific EARClinic provides for the hearing and balance healthcare needs of our community while providing rich clinical experiences for our students. An exciting advantage of being in the College of Health Professions is the emphasis on interprofessional collaboration and practice. The Pacific Interprofessional Clinic is housed across the street and new ideas and collaborations are sought and welcomed.
