The Department of Speech, Language, & Hearing Sciences at the University of Arizona is seeking an open-rank tenured or tenure-eligible faculty member who will contribute to the department’s research, teaching, and service missions. This is a full-time 9-month (academic) benefits eligible position to begin in August of 2026, with rank (assistant, associate, full professor) and salary commensurate with experience. 


We are seeking faculty with expertise in medical speech-language pathology or audiology (e.g., dysphagia, cognitive communication disorders, auditory physiology, cochlear implants). We welcome applicants with transdisciplinary research relevant to speech, language, hearing, and vestibular sciences such as artificial intelligence, data informatics, and research design and statistics. Research that addresses needs of a wide demographic breadth is preferred, as is the ability to mentor across differences. 


Minimum Qualifications: 

  • PhD in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences (SLHS) or related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise and in one of more areas of specialization in speech, swallowing, language, hearing, or vestibular sciences.
  • Record of scholarly works, including peer-reviewed publications and presentations commensurate with appointment level.
  • High impact research and grant funding record commensurate with appointment level.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Clinical credential (CCC) in speech-language pathology or audiology.
  • Demonstrated mentorship experience commensurate with appointment level, with experience mentoring across differences. 
  • Interest in and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience teaching in a higher education setting.
  • Inclusion of person-centered approaches to scholarship, teaching, and service.
  • Research area in a medical specialty of Speech, Language, and Hearing, such as dysphagia, TBI, dementia, cleft palate, adult motor speech disorders, cochlear implants, amplification, auditory physiology, pediatric audiology, or psychoacoustics.
