Program Director Speech-Language Pathology
Thiel College invites applications and nominations for the position of Program Director for the Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology program. Reporting to the Vice President for Academic Affairs, this position provides leadership for all aspects of the Communication Science and Disorders department, the M.S. in Speech Language Pathology Program, and the Center for Speech-Language Services. This is a 12-month, fulltime appointment.
Education and Experience:
A graduate degree with a major emphasis in speech-language pathology
Preferred qualification is an earned academic doctorate in Speech-Language Pathology or a closely related field
Current clinical certification in speech-language pathology from ASHA
Licensed, or eligible for licensure, as a Speech-Language Pathologist in Pennsylvania
Record of successful higher education administrative leadership including long-range planning, program and curriculum development, people management, and budget and enrollment management
Essential Job Functions:
Leadership
Serves as the primary representative of the program in all areas of the work of the College
Establishes a positive and supportive environment for students, staff and faculty
Directs and oversees program development while advancing the college’s strategic priorities
Teaching and Student Engagement
Fosters a dynamic learning environment that promotes academic and clinical excellence, ethical practice, and drives strong student outcomes
Manages the undergraduate and graduate curriculum
Teaches 18 credit hours over the course of the year
Oversees annual review of the CSD/SLP Clinical Education Handbook
Assessment, Program Review, Accreditation
Provides direction and oversight for assessment, program review, program evaluation
Ensures that the program remains in compliance with university, state, and national accreditation standards and regulations, including accreditation by the Council on Academic Accreditation of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
Enrollment, Management, Recruitment and Program Growth
Works with Admissions to recruit and admit students into the undergraduate and graduate programs •
Develops and oversees goals related to partnership development including establishing articulation agreements with undergraduate programs for entry into the graduate program
Fiscal Responsibilities
Provide fiscal leadership and stewardship of resources including, developing faculty loads, identifying adjuncts needs, developing the Master Academic Schedule, developing the budget and enrollment projections, and approving expenditures
Personnel, Supervision and Professional Development
Oversees the hiring, onboarding, evaluation, and management of faculty/staff in the program
Coordinates planning for special program activities, including conferences, workshops, and other similar functions in consultation with the faculty and Director of Clinical Education
