Successful candidates for this open rank, tenure-track faculty position should have a Ph.D. in hearing sciences or related areas with research experience in cochlear implantation.  Opportunities for collaboration are available with other VUMC and Vanderbilt University departments/programs including Neurosciences, Otolaryngology, Engineering, Data Science, as well as the Vanderbilt Brain Institute, Vanderbilt Institute for Imaging Science, Vanderbilt Genetics Institute, and Vanderbilt Kennedy Center, among others.

Responsibilities include (1) developing a program of extramurally-funded research; (2) teaching at the graduate level; and (3) supervising graduate student research (AuD and Ph.D.).

The Department of Hearing and Speech Sciences is housed on the main medical center campus with multiple satellite clinics in the Nashville metropolitan area.  Overall, our busy clinical enterprise in the Department of Hearing and Speech Sciences sees over 100,000 patient visits annually and we see 360+ new cochlear implant patients annually.  Our academic programs are CAA accredited, and the Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology programs are ranked highly (#1) by U.S. News and World Report.
