The Saint Mary's College Department of Speech Language Pathology invites applications for an Open Rank, Tenure-track Professor beginning Fall 2027. We are particularly interested in applicants with potential to chair the department.

The successful candidate will teach classes at the undergraduate and graduate level in SLP.  It is expected that the candidate be able to teach standard graduate offerings such as assessment, research methods, etc.  Expertise in an area not covered by current faculty is desired.  Such areas include, but are not limited to: Later Childhood Language Disorders, Speech and Hearing Science, and/or Fluency.  The candidate also must be able to teach courses in the undergraduate curriculum. 

Additionally, candidates with clinical expertise are preferred.  This can be via professional qualifications such as Certified Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP or CCC-AUD) from the American Speech Language Hearing Association, licensed or eligible to be licensed as a speech-language pathologist in the State of Indiana and/or experience supervising students in clinical education activities, either in the academic or clinical environment.

Teaching, research, and service expectations

• 3/3 teaching load that includes: a combination of graduate and undergraduate courses

• Research/creative activity: an active research program in the candidate’s area of expertise

• Service: participation in departmental functions such as graduate application review, college and academic service as appropriate

• Degree: Terminal degree required of didactic faculty. While a Ph.D. in Speech Language Pathology is preferred, strong candidates with Ph.Ds or Ed.Ds in related areas will be considered. Candidates should have clinical expertise with preference for those who have their Cs.
