Tenure-track Assistant Professor AuD

Tenure-track Assistant Professor AuD

DISCIPLINE Audiology TYPE Faculty

We're Growing! Join Our Nationally Ranked Team

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Iowa invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Hearing Science/Audiology (applications at other ranks may be considered; final rank commensurate with experience). This position reflects departmental growth, not a backfill.

We’re seeking a colleague who will strengthen and expand our research portfolio. Current audiology faculty span genetics, neuroscience, physiology, pediatric audiology/language development, and hearing aids—and we’re excited to add complementary expertise (e.g., cochlear implants, electrophysiology, pediatric diagnostics, computational audiology). Outstanding candidates from any area of hearing science/audiology are encouraged to apply.

Why Iowa?

  • Unparalleled reputation with decades of national prominence and a culture of collaboration.
  • Prime research ecosystem—steps from University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics (UIHC), enabling rich clinical and translational partnerships.
  • Cross-campus collaborators readily found in Otolaryngology–Head & Neck Surgery, Neurosurgery, Psychological & Brain Sciences, Computer Science, Public Health, and programs like DeLTA, CDD, EHDI, and the Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Neuroscience.
  • Longstanding CI leadership—Iowa’s NIH-funded CI program has built unmatched infrastructure (participant registries, clinical research support, EEG, CT, MRI, PET, eye-tracking, pupillometry, and more).
  • Exceptional students in both PhD and AuD programs.
  • New state-of-the-art Health Sciences Academic Building (opening Fall 2025) with modern experiential classrooms, a cutting-edge speech and audiology clinic, and 29 labs within 48,000+ sq ft dedicated to CSD (including 18,000 sq ft of clinical space).

Qualifications & Expectations

  • Establish and maintain an active, externally competitive research program.
  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in area(s) of expertise.
  • Contribute to service at the department, university, profession, and community levels.
