Tenure Track Faculty Position in SLP
Misericordia University invites applications for a full-time, 10-month tenure-track position within the Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) Department. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to both undergraduate and graduate education, engage in innovative scholarly research, advise and mentor students, and provide service to the department, college, university, and professional communities. Clinical supervision opportunities are available upon request, with the potential to supervise students in both on-campus and off-campus settings.
We offer a robust 5-year combined undergraduate and graduate program, providing students with an integrated educational experience in speech-language pathology. The SLP Department is housed in a cutting-edge, 20,000-square-foot facility designed to support advanced teaching, research, and clinical practice. This state-of-the-art space includes advanced research labs, multi-camera and broadcast-style classrooms, and fully equipped clinic rooms. A wide range of innovative technology enhances both learning and clinical training, such as socially assistive robots, functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (fNIRS), Autonomic Nervous System analysis tools, ISCAN eye-gaze tracking devices, videostroboscopy, Virtual Reality software, and Motion Capture Technology. The facility also features Intelligent Video Solutions for supervision, a Sound-Isolation Room with a Virtual Acoustic Environment, AAC equipment, and an Anatomage Virtual Dissection Table.
Specialized labs, including the Cognition and Language Lab, Literacy Lab, Dysphagia Lab, EEG systems, and VitalStim biofeedback systems, provide comprehensive resources for research and hands-on experience. The department also benefits from strong research and clinical partnerships with area hospitals, fostering a dynamic, collaborative environment that supports professional growth and student success. Additionally, a unique feature of the program is an adjacent early intervention center where faculty conduct research and students gain practical experience treating children.

The required qualifications for this position include (1) a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Communication Sciences and Disorders or a closely related field (ABD candidates will be considered with documented status), and (2) experience in both teaching and research. Preference will be given to candidates who hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP), as well as those with clinical expertise, teaching experience, and research focused on dysphagia and/or neurogenic communication disorders.
