About the Job: The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Minnesota Duluth seeks a 75% time Instructor or Teaching Assistant Professor for a one-year term contract position for the AY 2026-2027, with the possibility of renewal. The contract dates are August 24, 2026 through May 23, 2027.


Required Qualifications:


Master's degree in speech-language pathology with a minimum of 5 years of experience or have a terminal degree (Ph.D., Ed.D., A.B.D. or SLPD).

Have either successfully completed requirements for the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) or in process of completing the requirements for the CCC

Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills 

Demonstrate a commitment to supporting equity and accessibility in higher education and community settings.


Preferred Qualifications: 

Terminal degree (Ph.D., Ed.D., A.B.D. or SLPD).

Experience in developing and implementing research

Experience in teaching in higher education 

Experience in working with diverse student populations

Experience using online learning platforms and developing curriculum. 

Eligible for Minnesota licensure in speech language pathology.

Responsibilities include: teaching academic courses at the undergraduate and graduate level, including course development and delivery; serving on committees at the department, college and/or university level; advising students including academic and research advising as well as contributing to outreach activities that support the department's mission. Successful applicants with a terminal degree will be appointed at the rank of Teaching Assistant Professor.


About the Department:

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders is housed in the College of Education and Human Service Professions on the University of Minnesota Duluth campus. The program is accredited by the Council of Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology and houses the Robert F. Pierce Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic. The UMD Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders has an undergraduate and graduate degree program that provide specialized coursework and clinical experiences that prepare students to work with children and adults with a wide variety of speech, language and/or hearing needs across a variety of settings including public schools, hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centers, and private practice.


The CSD program is well recognized for the close faculty-student interaction and mentoring relationships. Faculty serve as student mentors, culminating in collaborative research projects, clinical service internships, and externships.


Pay Range: $50,437.00- $67,250.00 per year; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 75% Appointment
